The facility was a series of sheltered dirt runs and indoor/outdoor pens on concrete and crushed rock. Some of the pens were in a state of disrepair.

Outdoor pens

Near the north side of the property were ten outdoor dirt runs with wire walls. Each was about eight feet wide and 15 feet long, with a plastic, igloo-style doghouse and one to three dogs per pen. Metal sheets provided shade for about ten percent of each run, while some trees offered additional shade. Aside from the dog houses, the pens were barren.

Just to the south was a small barn with short indoor/outdoor pens on its eastern side, though no dogs were seen in them. One pen had a long section of metal sheeting placed against its wire wall. Nearby was a second barn with about five indoor/outdoor pens. Three of these, each about three feet wide and five feet long, were partially covered with canvas for shade. I observed two dogs, each in a different pen. Two additional pens were attached to the building with elevated doggie doors and ramps, but no dogs were visible there.

Pens in disrepair

On the south side of the property were five outdoor dirt runs in disrepair, each about five feet wide and 20 feet long. These pens had wire walls partially covered with sheet metal arranged haphazardly. Some pens were partially shaded by sheet metal and wooden boards, but most were exposed to the sun. One dog was visible in each pen. The dogs appeared stressed, walking in circles and pausing intermittently. Dog houses were attached to or inside the ends of the pens, and the floorings were littered with rocks. One pen had a large piece of sheet metal on the ground, and another had a board that appeared to have fallen from the pen’s structure.
