Approximate number of dogs and puppies observed at time of investigation: about twelve dogs

Number of adult dogs and puppies at last USDA inspection: 27 adult dogs and 28 puppies on 10/08/24

The kennel was a greenhouse with nine indoor/outdoor runs on its northern side. They were designed such that dogs could not see outside of their pens, keeping them essentially isolated and hidden from everything around them.

The outer runs were each about 10 feet long and five feet wide, with one run being about twice as wide. They had plastic walls around them about five feet tall, so the dogs couldn’t see outside or anything besides the sky and the walls of their own pens. The floorings were covered in snow and feces. I saw one to two dogs per enclosure, and the amount of manure for that many dogs indicated their enclosures hadn’t been cleaned in days. Urine stains and piles of manure were visible in the thick snow. Some dogs’ manure was piled in corners, while in other pens, it was scattered across almost half the flooring’s snow surface.
