La Mirada, CA 90638
Date and Time of CAPS Investigation: 02/03/2019; 3:00 p.m. (PST)
Rescue Groups Used by Pet Shop: None; claimed to be breeding their own dogs.
CAPS investigators visited “Ooh Puppy” located in a strip mall in La Mirada, CA. There were no puppies in the immediate store front, which appeared to be set-up for grooming. An investigator asked in Korean if dogs, particularly puppies, were sold in the establishment, so the owner went into the back and produced multiple puppies including several Maltipoos. There were no signs indicating where the dogs had come from, what particular breeds were available, or date of birth. Instead, the owner verbally indicated that she had a breeder’s license and bred dogs (legally, she claimed) on a one-acre property in Fullerton. She also provided pictures of said Fullerton property.
The owner claimed that she was legally breeding all the available dogs for purchase, that they had received their first round of vaccinations, and that she would administer the other two rounds of vaccinations upon purchase. She did not provide vaccination or warranty paperwork. The owner claimed that she could more or less provide any type of puppy that we requested, as long as we knew that some would be far more expensive than others.
