CAPS’ President called the store on 1/18/19. A woman told her that they sell Yorkshire Terriers bred by her brother. CAPS investigators visited “Puppy Land LA,” located in Los Angeles’ Koreatown. The store appeared to be open, though there was a secondary gate located within the store that was locked shut. An investigator of Korean descent inquired in Korean as to whether or not they were selling dogs, and they claimed not to be. They claimed to only do grooming. They gave no indication when or if they would once again resume selling dogs.
In 2013, a few months after the Los Angeles ordinance passed, I went undercover to the store. They were still selling puppies in violation of the ordinance. CAPS reported this store and other violators to Los Angeles Animal Services. LAAS finally went to the stores and assured us that none of them were still selling puppies. We suspect that this store claims to not sell puppies as soon as they feel that they are being investigated.
