Julie Scholl (Caucasian female, about 45 years old, 5’8”, 155 lbs., with long brown hair) explained to me that she recently sold 24 dogs to a breeder in Missouri. She had four adult dogs in pens with indoor/outdoor enclosures; the outdoor portions of these pens were wire runs with concrete floorings. Four puppies were in a plastic cage with a wire door on its indoor portion. Feces was mashed on the flooring, but it did not appear to be more than would have accumulated in less than a day.
Statements contradicting pet store claims:
Julie said that she used to have 33 dogs. I responded, “Well, if you’re throwing every cycle, that’s a lot.” She then said, “Well, even if I’ve got all the momma dogs, thirty momma dogs, that are having one a year, that’s still an awful lot. But it’s too much for us.” This statement contradicts the Puppy Land (Queens, NY) claim that their breeders breed two to three puppies at a time.
