Local governments in New York State should be allowed to regulate pet dealers.
Facts prove the USDA and New York State Agriculture Department do not have enough staff or regulations to properly inspect and enforce laws.
Within New York State, we have serious problems with pet dealers. Not only with the treatment of animals in their care, but also with the half truths told to potential consumers, and with the source of these animals.
It is clear companion animals need our help.
S3753-A/740A will ensure that municipalities can regulate pet dealers, increasing health of companion animals, safety of the residents, and source of these animals in our communities.
