Suffolk County Signs “Puppy Mill Bill”

06/18/2014
unnamed

Today, Suffolk County became the first in New York State to sign a ‘puppy mill’ law. Even though it won’t be an outright ban, it will implement stricter rules for pet dealers and prohibit the sale of animals from proven puppy mills. The ‘Puppy Mill Bill’ also brings transparency to the pet dealer business by requiring pet shops to provide the latest USDA inspection reports upon request. After the bill was signed, Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone presented the pen used to CAPS New York Director Barbara Dennihy in recognition of her hard work.
